Fashion Magazines

Are fashion magazines becoming obsolete? I remember when a lazy Saturday consisted of reading tons of fashion magazines and eating cold pizza. But now most of my magazines get a glance over if their lucky or never get opened….How sad is that!?!?

What has happened, that I have no interest in finding out the latest fashions according to Instyle, Glamour, Harpers Bazaar or Lucky magazine just to name a few.

I'd much rather stalk fashion blogs and gain my fashion influences from you guys, my fellow bloggers.  Real people with Real Style and Real Budgets!

A fashion blog is far more personal than a magazine. With a fashion blog, I can leave a comment if I’m diggin your outfit, search for hours, because there are a gazillion blogs, and interact with the fellow blogger via social media…. What’s your preferred method of getting your fashion fix?

Short and Sweet

I just wanted to drop a short and sweet post featuring my OOTD. If you stalk the Forever 21 website like I do, this dove kimono style jacket should look familiar. I watched this jacket for days before I gave in and made a trip to the mall.

The print reminds me of the Miu Miu 2010 collection, which is way out of my budget. This is my look for less….

Check out my favorite clutch…It’s the House of Field Clutch Sex and the City 2 Movie edition. Samantha Jones carried the blue version in the SATC movie.  I purchased this clutch at the Patricia Field store in 2009. If you’re visiting NYC and want to pick up some memorable gifts, stop by Patricia Field’s….trust me, you’ll be glad you did!

Sunday Brunch

Last week was my birthday and I was uninspired to plan anything big. I’ve had the major parties in the past and was ok letting the day pass with a low key celebration of dinner and a movie.  But to my surprise, my friends Priscilla and Cathy coordinated a surprise birthday brunch at Farrago’s with my closest friends to celebrate my born day. What??? 

Let me tell you, I was totally shocked and so thankful that I have a special group of friends in my life.  We had a blast enjoying great food, conversation, and we even ran into a local Houston celebrity rapper Slim Thugg. 

We would’ve taken more pictures but it started to rain cats and dogs out of the blue…that’s Houston weather for you…totally unpredictable!  

It was such a wonderful day and totally unexpected. I’m so blessed to have so many exceptional people in my life!

I Love Thrifting Houston Style

We had a fabulous time at the 1st annual I love Thrifting Party created by Mr. Goodwill Hunting and hosted by a number of bloggers from different cities.  We had a great turn out in Houston.  The party was held at A Perfect Fit Resale Boutique and Clothes for Kids Resale.

Owner Marie Pace, from A Perfect Fit Resale Boutique, brings her southern hospitality to anyone who enters her store and offers a frequent buyer program, monthly sales and lay-a-way.  If you’re ever in Houston, check them out and tell them Katie Mac sent you!

Now, who wants to thrift on an empty stomach?  Not Houston!  We had a fruit and cheese tray, summer sausage, and crackers....all with a glass of Pinot Grigio….now we’re off and ready to shop!

A perfect fit resale boutique has a wide selection of name brand women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories…so many choices, what’s a girl to do?  SHOP till she drops!

If you need to pick something up for the kiddo's, no worries, we've got you covered! Roxanne Weideman is the owner of Clothes for Kids Resale the oldest resale shop in Houston.  Her shop has a huge selection of children’s clothing from sizes newborn to 16.  Another special treat is to see “Smokey” the cat who can be found chilling at the checkout counter.

I handed out The Mac Styles Survival Kit.  It had everything you need to keep you going for a full day of thrifting - water, snack, antibacterial lotion and my business card..LOL  

I received such positive feedback that I’m thinking of hosting another party.  We can’t wait till next year!

I wanted to send a special thank you to everyone who came out. We had a wonderful day of thrifting and making new friends.

I just wanted to do a quick post of my Outfit of the Day. I bought this dress at Forever 21 two years ago for my Miami trip and for some reason never wore it until today.

This dress was little bit bigger two years ago but I digress. Anyways, it’s the perfect look to run errands while on my staycation which consisted of shopping with friends and dinner with the BFF.

Happy 4th of July

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and Happy 4^th of July filled with fun, food, family and friends!!!!  I’m currently on a staycation enjoying my week off from work. In a few days I will be celebrating my birthday with friends…Life is good!
