Bloggers Do It Better- Neon + Neutral

The fourth installment for Bloggers Do It Better is Neon + Neutral.  The look is to have a simple neutral palette with a pop of neon color. That is not a problem for me because I’m all about the color.  Brighter and bolder is always better!

My first goal was to resist buying anything new since I’m shopping my closet.  So I had to get crackin and see what I could find.  Lucky me, I came across this neon orange Christian Dior blazer that I found a couple of weeks ago at the Goodwill for $9.99!  Can you believe that?  That was a good thrifting day…I absolutely love the color and the gold CD buttons.

I imagined this blazer was once worn by a “well to do woman” that spent her Saturday with the Ladies Who Lunch drinking hot tea and conversing about their vacation homes.  My Saturdays are far from the Ladies Who Lunch, so I decided to add my funky flair to this blazer by pairing my splatter paint Gap Khaki pants and bold accessories.

Be sure to check out all the other bloggers in their Neon + Neutral looks!

Bloggers Do It Better- American Prep

This week’s challenge for Bloggers Do It Better is American Prep School.  The assignment is to create a preppy look wearing a vest, cardigan or blazer and you must include a tie. I was super excited about this challenge and immediately searched the internet for style inspirations.  My first stop was to check out Tommy Hilfiger’s website where I was immersed with preppy trends from blue blazers, crisp chinos, letterman cardigans, and boat shoes.

My creative ideas were in full effect! I knew that I wanted to have that Carlton Banks look from Fresh Prince of Bellaire.  Remember his outfits?  He oozed American Prep school, down to the sweater tied around his neck.  What I like most about these challenges is the ability to be creative and try things that are outside of your comfort level.

The challenge is to rock an all white ensemble which is a perfect way to stay cool for summer. Honestly, the challenge was difficult for me because I only have a few white pieces in my closet. Luckily, I found this white eyelet skirt and I knew it would be perfect!

Bloggers Do It Better-Color Blocking

I’m participating in the “Bloggers Do It Better” challenge created by Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  She developed this idea of showcasing real people, real trends, with real style.  Hmmm, this is going to be fun and a great incentive to get in my closet and get creative!  Color blocking is a skillful way of pairing bold bright colors or stripes that you may otherwise be leery would match. But isn’t that what fashion is about taking risk and being the one to stand out in the crowd! So consider me “Colored Blocked.”
