Change is Good

Check out my new “Hair Do” Kinky Twist braids. I’m making the transition from relaxed to natural hair.  This was a decision that I thought long and hard about, because I don’t handle change very well.  I’ve spent many hours watching You Tube videos, reading natural hair blogs, and finding real life inspirations from friends and family.  So I decided to embrace change and start my natural hair journey.

Déjà vu

You’re not seeing double! I wore my oversized pink shirt twice in a day, but worn two different ways. With the magic of accessories you can change your outfit in a matter of minutes. Fashion is like having a split personality, depending on your mood you can rock a different look!

Bloggers Do It Better-Color Blocking

I’m participating in the “Bloggers Do It Better” challenge created by Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  She developed this idea of showcasing real people, real trends, with real style.  Hmmm, this is going to be fun and a great incentive to get in my closet and get creative!  Color blocking is a skillful way of pairing bold bright colors or stripes that you may otherwise be leery would match. But isn’t that what fashion is about taking risk and being the one to stand out in the crowd! So consider me “Colored Blocked.”

In Living Color

Did anyone catch the In Living Color marathon? It’s by far one of the funniest sketch comedy shows of all times but what caught my eye today were the fashions. Remember the 90’s fashion? Everything was big, baggy, and bright color clothes. I began to reminisce about my Cross Colors oversized purple jeans….OMG…I can’t believe I dragged my mom to the Merry Go Round store to get a pair but I had to have them. Oops showing my age here…

Belt-New York and Company, Clutch-Vintage, Ring-Charlotte Russe, Earrings- Forever 21, Bracelet-Vintage and Jessica Kagan Cushman

This is one of my favorite bracelets of all time. It’s a hand poured black resin bangle with ivory hand scripted text that reads-
“Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess”

                    Shirt-Target, Pants-Target, Thirfted, Shoes-Target

These pants are perfect for summer but the added bonus I paid less than you would for a cheeseburger off the dollar menu. “I’m Lovin’ it! “

Well I traded those Cross Colors oversized purple jeans for a pair of classis pink khakis.
Thank God my style has evolved. Tell me how your style has changed?

I can’t get enough of Celebrity Stylist June Ambrose with her ability of mixing patterns and textiles creating a cohesive style palette. She is simply fabulous! According to the Hollywood Reporter Ambrose has been named one of the top 25 most powerful stylists and will be starring in her reality show on VH1. WooHoo can’t wait for the show but I'll patiently wait and watch her You Tube Videos.

Ambrose understands the importance of accessories and is never without her staple pieces turbans, oversized sunglasses, statement handbags and killer heels.  I love it!!!!!

Ambrose can turn a simple outfit into something amazing just by the use of accessories.
What are your staple accessories?

I'm Blogging Baby!

Fashion blogs have been my obsession in the last couple of years. I’ve spent countless hours reading and searching for blogs. My friends were subject to my findings and listened with open ears to my lust over each outfit with a fine tooth comb.  Every conversation ending with “When are you going to start your OWN blog?” My response "someday"….

Well last month I attended a Houston Blogger Meet and Greet hosted by K.D. of Hair Gurl and Reiko of God’s Favorite Shoes.
K.D., Tee from Mane Course, Azalea from High Heel Junkie, Reiko and Jody of Bronze Island.

What an experience! I met a group of ladies that were so inspiring, encouraging, and willing to share their first hand experience of blogging.  I left the restaurant feeling I could save the world.  Okay maybe not the world but I could start my blog. Jody assured me that I would be able to create a blog template and post pictures. Trust me I needed that extra nudge because I’m sooooo not computer savvy.

As the meet and greet was coming to a close Raven from diyraven said “If this doesn’t make you want to start a blog I don’t know what will?” Raven you’re right! Thank you again ladies for helping me make my blog dreams come true!
Oh and by the way Raven makes a American Apparel inspired clutch that is Très chic! Check out her blog.
Please also check out my other new blog friends!
